Keep each account separate
Choose a distinct, sufficiently long password for every account you control. Avoid obvious patterns that change only a site name or a final digit. If a service reports an exposed password, follow its verified recovery process and review other accounts where that password was reused.
Use a manager thoughtfully
A password manager can generate and store separate credentials, reducing the need to remember each one. Protect access to the manager itself and understand its recovery options. Before saving or filling a password, inspect the website address; a familiar screen is not enough to establish the intended destination.
Never share credentials to get reading help
This publication has no reader accounts and does not need a Meritking password, recovery phrase or sign-in code. A message claiming otherwise should be checked independently. When discussing an account problem elsewhere, describe the symptom without including the password in a screenshot, support message or shared document.
A quick checklist
- Use a different password for every separate service.
- Review the address before entering or saving credentials.
- Keep passwords out of screenshots and support messages.
