01

Know what may be stored

Images, style files and other resources can be kept locally under browser and server caching rules. The cache is different from a bookmark and from the page address in your history. A familiar-looking screen does not establish whether every resource came from the latest version.

02

Check the symptom before clearing data

If an article looks incomplete or a design appears outdated, a reload may help. Browser controls sometimes offer a stronger reload that requests fresh resources. However, a server error, missing page or access restriction is a different problem and may have nothing to do with stored files.

03

Remove only what you intend

Browser menus often place cache, cookies, history and saved passwords in the same dialog. Read the selected categories and time range before confirming. Clearing cookies or site storage may sign you out elsewhere or remove saved preferences, including a reading list stored only on that device.

A quick checklist

  • Describe the display problem before choosing a fix.
  • Distinguish cached resources from cookies and local storage.
  • Review every selected category before clearing browser data.
