Use headings as a map
An article’s headings divide the topic into smaller decisions or explanations. Read them first when you need a specific answer, or use your assistive technology’s heading navigation where available. Related links should describe the next subject so that you can choose it without relying on an image alone.
Keep keyboard focus visible
When navigating with a keyboard, move through links and controls in order and notice the focus indicator. A button should be understandable from its text and usable without a precise pointer movement. If a page traps focus or obscures the active control, browser navigation remains an important way out.
Adjust the reading environment
Increase zoom or text size when needed, and use your device’s contrast or reduced-motion settings if helpful. Preferences can affect different websites in different ways. Check that content still fits and that important controls remain reachable after adjusting the view, especially on a small screen.
A quick checklist
- Scan headings to locate the part you need.
- Use visible focus when moving through controls by keyboard.
- Check readability again after changing zoom or display settings.
