01

Recognize the permission request

A browser permission prompt is different from a graphic inside the page saying “allow to continue.” Read which site is requesting access and whether its explanation matches your purpose. If you only want to read an article, you can decline a notification request and assess what happens next.

02

Check where an alert came from

A notification may display a title, icon and sender information, but its wording can still be misleading. Avoid treating it as a trusted system warning just because it appeared outside a tab. Open browser settings independently when you need to inspect the sending site.

03

Review permission from the browser

Look for site permissions or notification settings in your browser. Remove permission for unfamiliar senders or sites whose alerts are no longer useful. Menus differ across devices, and operating-system controls may also apply. Closing a tab alone does not necessarily revoke a notification permission you previously granted.
